We're excited to invite you to participate in the Ha'mi'ksila Project, focused on food preservation and celebrating Indigenous culinary tradition. Hosted by U’mista, these quarterly workshops aim to empower our community with the skills and knowledge of preserving seasonal foods - starting with preserving seasonal berries at our first Workshop.
👩‍🍳 What to Expect:
- Learn traditional and modern techniques of jarring fish and preserving apple sauce
- Connect with intergenerational wisdom on food preservation
- Contribute to local food security efforts

🌱 Why Join?
By participating, you support the K’wak’walat’si ('Na̱mg̱is) Child and Family Services-Community Pantry and Alert Bay Elementary School's after school program. Together, we're preserving and sharing our harvests to ensure food sovereignty and access to fresh, preserved foods throughout the year.
